Several changes are intended for the STEP2 CS exam beginning June 17, 2012. These include changes to the assessment of communication and interpersonal skills (CIS) and changes to the patient note.
The CIS portion of the exam will focus on five functions, which are also divided into further sub-functions. A new patient note will also be introduced in which examinees will be asked to provide a maximum of three possible diagnoses and to give supporting/refuting evidence obtained through the history and physical examination of the patient.
