Hi, I gave my step 1 three weeks back and started reading Internal medicine couple of days back. To my astonishment I found out that it makes your step 2ck preparation easy if you follow your preparation immediately after step-1 exam. And as I am planning to give it in Jan 2nd week.....my plan goes like this-
1) Read Kaplan notes (quickly) - all the subjects.
2) Start USMLE WORLD and finish it- (According to my knowledge people who have already given step 2CK said its worth it if you can do USMLE WORLD as many number of times before you give the exam; make sure I use UW as a learning tool and strengthen MY weak areas and learn as much as possible from UW. 3) And of course revise the subjects again towards the end.
Feel free to drop in any suggestions.
Thanks guys.....and keep posting your views. good luck to all of you.

Hi, I am having 2006-2007 edition of step 2 ck notes and have started reading Internal Medicine from that. Please can anyone tell me how different is 2008-2009 edition of step 2 ck notes from the 2006-2007 edition. If there is a major difference then I'll try make a shift.
Thanks for posting your replies so promptly.

Hi Thanks... Well for step 1 i had been to Kaplan but i know a few of my friends who didnt and they had access to the videos and notes somehow...Many of them keep telling me it was a waste i had to join Kaplan(for step1) but personally i dont feel so. The major disadvantage is that u cant watch the videos whenever you want. You have to go to the centre to watch it. The advantage is that you are basically forced to watch it when you are there(coz there is nothing else to do)..I am still two minded on whether or not join kaplan. I dont have access to the notes either. I am still on the look out for other options. Surely will keep ya all posted of my study progress and that way we can help each other out...

Hi,
Got my score today-80, I have to work hard and get a better score in step -2 to compensate at least. Personally I want to be optimistic and want to look forward for preparing for step-2 CK.
I feel if you do not have anyone to do a combined study then I would suggest you to read the notes first and attend the Live lectures (if you are ready to spend little money) rather than just videos because it gives you the drive and pushes you. And you can meet new people and share different views on subject matter during your preparation time.
Thats what I heard from people....but in the end as everyone says......go with what suits you the best.

Hi all, The Kaplan Step 2 08-09 books ARE significantly different than the older version - esp. the IM & peds section is totally redone & MUCH more detailed (It helps a lot - esp with cardiology!)
I have some Brand new Kaplan 08-09 Red Cover books - Original ones from a course I took & the DVDs - if any one is interested, send your email & I'll get in contact. Thanks.

Hi Nan I didn't watch DVD's yet, I'm not sure if I have time to do them, maybe just internal medicine. I'll tell you later about how it is going!
